Response to Oxford Street Property Programme proposals

05 Sep 2023

Westminster Property Association has responded to Westminster City Council’s Oxford Street Programme Proposals, which aims to create a dynamic and sustainable environment and enhanced public realm that strengthens the global status of the district.

In a letter to Bernie Flaherty (Deputy Chief Executive and Bi-Borough Executive Director of Adult Social Care, Westminster City Council), WPA has voiced its support for the plans, which include increased greening, enhanced public space with wider footways and more space for pedestrians.

Oxford Steet has played a leading role in the economic and cultural success of both Westminster and London, but years of underinvestment and the impact of the pandemic have meant that urgent action is required. WPA therefore welcomes this initiative to safeguard the future of one of Westminster’s most important assets.
