Westminster Property Association response: Validation Checklist consultation

On behalf of its members, the Westminster Property Association has responded to Westminster City Council’s consultation on the introduction of its proposed Validation Checklist policy.

In our response we highlighted that the additional requirements for applicants set out in this draft policy are contrary to the Government’s proposed revision of the National Planning Policy Framework, which aims to simplify and speed up the planning process.

Whilst we support the provision of robust information to help inform decision-making, we recommend that care should be taken to ensure that additional layers of policy do not become onerous and burdensome, further slowing down a complex and already lengthy planning process.
