WPA supports amendments to Business & Planning bill

10 Jul 2020

Westminster Property Association has written to Cllr Rachael Robathan (Leader of Westminster Council) to offer support to the City Council’s and several other Central London boroughs’ proposed amendments to Section 11 of the Businesses and Planning Bill.

The letter expresses concerns that carefully considered licensing conditions, granted on the basis of indoor drinking, would have on local communities if they were to be automatically extended to takeaway alcoholic beverages.

In the interests of businesses and residents, Westminster Property Association urges the Government to adopt measures which would limit off-sales by licensed premises to 11pm. However going forward, it will be vital that businesses, residents and the City Council work together to allow increased flexibility around both use classes and licensing to ensure the future of the West End is to be supported toward recovery.
