This breakfast seminar explored how planning policy can help unlock development, attract investment and ensure Westminster remains competitive in an increasingly challenging global market.
Over 130 WPA members joined us to explore this theme at Landsec’ Thirty High, a major refurbishment and extension of a 1960s Brutalist building on the doorstep of Victoria station.
Following a welcome address from WPA Board member Oliver Knight, keynote speaker Cllr Tim Barnes, Westminster City Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Growth and Planning, outlined the City Council’s agenda for growth, including its emerging Economic Growth Statement and new retrofit first guidance.
In a panel discussion chaired by WPA Chair James Raynor, industry leaders and policymakers explored the importance of meeting changing occupier needs while balancing heritage and sustainability, and the role of development in promoting social value through partnerships, public realm improvements and providing a broader range of housing options.
